The authors of the article have gathered literary works of poets and writers – former students of Riga Polytechnicum (RP) and Riga Polytechnic institute (RPI), and have characterized them. Several Latvian and foreign literary workers have studied at the institute. Only six of them – Alfrēds Andersons, Jānis Bergs, Rihards Ērglis, Ernests Eferts, Jānis Miķelsons and Arvīds Valdmanis – received diplomas in engineering after graduating from Departments of Engineering, Commerce and Agriculture. Astronomiskais tornis uz Latvijas Universitātes galvenās ēkas jumta jau 150 gadus kalpo kā logs uz kosmosu. 19. gadsimtā te veikti zinātniski novērojumi, 20. gadsimtā tornī uzstādīto Heides teleskopu izmantoja studentu apmācībai un debess spīdekļu demonstrēšanai. No 1986. gada zvaigžņotās debess demonstrējumi notiek ļoti aktīvi, nomainījušies trīs teleskopi.

The study examines the status of a private docent, the academic position which was introduced across the world in the 18th century and which also existed in Latvia from the second half of the 19th century until the end of World War II. Tiek analizēti regulas panti Studentu karcera kontekstā, lai izvērtētu to formalitātes sakritību un nesakritību ar faktisko situāciju, konstatējot atšķirības studentu soda termiņu noteikšanā. Arī tiek veidotas paralēles ar analogu Studentu karceri, kas atrodas Heidelbergas universitātē, izšķirot kopīgo un atšķirīgo studentu karcera ieslēgšanas iemeslos, studentu etniskajā sastāvā, telpu iekārtojumā un sadzīves apstākļos.
